I also noticed that our tiny icons in our community layout are broken, so I've fixed them and replaced them with customized ones! Since LJ's tiny icons are conveniently the same size as favicons, I just grabbed from what was submitted to our favicon contest~. I will probably rotate our usericon with other Colors Universe characters in the future!

It's been some time since our previous contest! Contest 011 is quite different from all of our previous contests, as it doesn't involve designing a character, but it does involve designing! So what's your task this time...?

Design Colors TCG's Favicon!


Your task is to design a 16 x 16 pixel favicon to represent Colors TCG. When uploaded to the site, the favicon appears next to your URL or name of the site in most browsers. Currently, I threw in our Sakura level icon as a placeholder! You can read more about favicons here.

I very randomly tossed that in to test favicons out, as I've noticed that our site sorely lacked one! (The favicon didn't used to show up for me before when I first tried it out, but now it does after I updated my browser... except the transparency's not working! Does the transparency work for anyone?)

In any case, it's time to bust out your skills with tiny pixels and your design sense! :D

Guidelines
♪ Your favicon must be 16 by 16 pixels.
♪ Your design must be representative of Colors TCG. (perhaps a crayon, a sketchpad, a TCG card, a Colors character... whatever you can think of that could be iconic for Colors!)
♪ Your favicon must be original and designed by you!
♪ Favicons must be saved in both .gif and .png file types. Please send both in. I will resave the winning favicon as .ico in the end as well.
♪ Each participant may submit up to two designs!
♪ Send your submissions in by email to rykatu[at]yahoo[dot]com as an attachment. Make sure to label the subject of the email with "Colors TCG Favicon Submission - your name". Please include the name you use in the TCG since not all emails match up with names.

This brings the first (but maybe not last) Asobot Initiative Mascot Design contest to a close! My thanks to all for your votes, participation, and support of the Initiative so far as well as to the artists who stepped forward to the challenge! In addition, be sure to check out the alternative Open Fic and Art Submission post from last month that had an Initiative theme! Many awesome contributions were made!

Lucathia stated this before, but this is me wanting it to happen more! Feel free to ponder up your own ideas for spin-off characters, relatives, friends, you name it! There "are plenty of other colors out there, like pink or turquoise, and characters could even be named after fruits for the fruits levels (Mikan would be happy) or after precious stone and metal (Gin would love to have more companions)"! I've stepped forward and thought up sisters for both Kou and Mikan, for example, but i'd love to see what others think! Does the Colors crew have relatives? Friends? Classmates? Space travellers? Aliens? Anything interesting could happen! Use your imagination and show it off in the future with more Fic and Art for the Colors Universe!

Look forward to future contests! I suspect that there are a few in the works!

Welcome to the very first Asobot Initiative "Design" contest! After coming this far represented solely by Goku, the Asobot Initiative is in dire need of a proper Colors-related mascot. However, we're not about to abandon Goku or Asobot as our founding idea and mascot!

Your task is to design a proper combination of Akai and Goku, namely with Akai cosplaying as Goku! After submissions close, voting will be open for 1 week. I will have entries up in one post where people can place their vote. The submission with the most votes will become the official combined mascot for the Asobot Initiative within Colors TCG and will be used in all of the update posts as the top banner. You must allow your art to be used in the TCG in graphics such as banners, icons, and cards, of course! However in this contest, everyone wins! All submissions will appear within the Asobot Initiative as thanks for your support in this contest.

This brings our design contests for Colors Universe to an end. Wow, when we started off with Akai-san, I completely thought we'd never get to the end of the contests, or that they would die off along the way. But here we are, with a complete cast representing all the colors here at the TCG! They are all such unique characters too! They are SO MUCH LOVE. Thank you all who participated and voted. ♥

I have received suggestions about contests for spin-off characters, relatives, friends, you name it. Although there are plenty of other colors out there, like pink or turquoise, and characters could even be named after fruits for the fruits levels (Mikan would be happy) or after precious stone and metal (Gin would love to have more companions) but I believe we have a perfect number of official characters. Anymore would just be not letting go at the right time, though I won't say it'll never happen. It's just unlikely there'll be another design contest for characters. (maybe we can design their house instead, or outfit changes for the current characters *g*)

However, if anyone would like to design unofficial characters and have them interact with our current characters, you are free to do so (and maybe they'll catch on!)

Contests will continue, but they will be different from the design contests!

It's voting time once again, the last for our Design contests! We'll have more contests on our way, though they most likely won't be Design contests, but we never know~. I hope we have a good voter turnout for our last addition to our Colors Universe family! :)

Welcome to our last "Design" contest! Wow, I didn't think we'd get this far! We already have our 8 Colors characters. Now, we just need to welcome their pets! That's right, this is a contest to design Colors's mascots!

After Gin-sensei returned from his most recent expedition, he brought along two strange creatures, one that was pure white and one that was pure black. He named them Shirocchi and Kurocchi respectively for their colors, though they also had strange markings, so I guess we can't say they're pure white or black? Anyway...

Your task is to design both Shirocchi and Kurocchi together in one image! After submissions close, voting will be open for 1 week. I will have entries up in one post where people can place their vote. The submission with the most votes will become our official Shirocchi and Kurocchi. You must allow your art to be used in the TCG in graphics such as banners, icons, and cards. Be prepared to have your art featured as the model for future pics of Shirocchi and Kurocchi!

Our last character is Gin-sensei! :D The -sensei suffix is used with teachers, doctors, professors, and other professionals or figures of authority. It can also be used to show respect to someone who has mastered some sort of art form or skill. Accomplished novelists, musicians, artists, etc, can also be addressed as sensei~. I look forward to seeing what kind of sensei you might design. "Gin", by the way, means silver. I apologize if the appearance requirements below force you to settle on certain types of sensei... that is not my intention. :')

After this one, we will have one more contest for a mascot type character who will be Gin-sensei's pet. :) (So please do not include any animals with Gin-sensei at the moment!)
