Introduction

Pot of Gold is a monthly game. The objective of the Pot of Gold is to complete different 'tasks' that will be different every month. You'll get small rewards for completing them individually, but receive bonuses if you manage to complete all of them. How much of the rainbow can you complete?

This month's theme is... Steins;Gate!

Rules

☆ Everything collected and turned in for these tasks must be done and logged in between October 4th and November 4th. You get one month and one month only, use it wisely.

☆ When commenting here after completing a task, make sure you label your subject with Completed:, as well as the number of the task you finished.

☆ Please give me a link to your logs with every comment you make. Also, make sure you link me all the stuff that I need to check.

☆ I will be able to pass out most of the prizes (excluding the grand prize) before the end of the month, so please tell me (with a note in your comment) if you want them earlier.

☆ Pot of Gold tasks can only be turned in when the round is open, so that means that after 12:01 PM GMT on November 4th, 2022, you can't turn in anything even if your tasks were completed and logged in the correct time!

☆ You can format your comment however you prefer. Veth has posted a lovely code here that you can use if you'd like.

☆ If you are using a coupon for your rewards - please link it somewhere I can see so that I can process it when giving out rewards!

Red Task

Feiris runs MayQueen Nyan Nyan, the most popular maid cafe this side of Akihabara! She also loves to play a trading card game called RaiNet Access Battlers too. She's looking for rare cards -- can you help round up some trades for her?

Task: Trade with 10 people this month.
Reward: 15 random cards

Orange Task

Hououin Kyouma, genius mad scientist, uses his world-renown intellect to fight conspiracies and take over the world. ... Or he would, if he had any sorts of skills in that area. Instead, he's actually Okabe Rintarou, average college student with a passion for "inventing things". But everyone has to start somewhere -- let's build his mastery of science one step at a time.

Task: Master 2 decks this month. Primary players need only master 1.
Reward: 10 random cards + 2 crayons

Yellow Task

In addition to being a super hacker computer genius... Daru is a huge otaku, and also loves maids. He frequently visits MayQueen Nyan Nyan mentioned by Feiris above. But since Feiris is so busy playing RaiNet recently, he's missing his fix. Help a thirsty man out, please?

Task: Bring in 5 cards featuring a character who is in a maid outfit, or who is a maid. You will lose these cards.
Reward: 10 random new release cards + 3 crayons

Green Task

Suzuha is colloquially known as the Part Time Warrior for her diligence in taking care of the electronic store she works at. She rides her bike all over the place, carrying out all sorts of services in a timely manner... And you should too!

Task: Use at least 5 services this month. Art Shop, Art Studio, Recycled Art, Donations, Masteries, Levels, Activity Rewards, or others will be accepted.

Blue Task

Tuturu~ Mayuri is the somewhat airheaded mood maker of the lab members. Whether she's sewing a specialty costume or bringing in a bunch of bananas, nothing is ever boring with her around. Everyone loves her warm and generous personality too. Let's share in that together!

Task: Give five people a gift this month.
Reward: 10 random cards

Purple Task

Moeka is diligently looking for something: the very rare classic computer IBN 5100. It was last seen thirty years ago. Can you help her find it? ... No? That's a shame. Could you at least help her collect information on it? Say, by leveling up your knowledge, perhaps?

Task: Level up OR gain 100 cards this month
Reward: 10 random cards + 3 crayons

Brown Task

Kurisu is a genius scientist... No, really this time! Her area of study is neuroscience and memory. She's even held many a lecture about it, but exchanging ideas is good too. What do you study?

Task: Talk about something science related you're interested in; any area is fine.
Reward: 5 random cards + 2 crayons

Gray Task

Ruka always wants to believe the best of her friends. Unfortunately, this makes her a bit gullible and prone to falling for Okabe's nonsense. This month, he's requested she go on a "journey of hardship" to "become stronger"... Let's accompany her on her training montage!

Task: Participate in 20 games this month.
Reward: 10 random cards

Rewards

☆ You can earn up to a total of 75 random cards, 10 new release cards, and 10 random crayons for completing the tasks for this month.

☆ Completing all the tasks will earn you an additional 20 random cards, 4 random crayons and the GRAND PRIZE!

☆ GRAND PRIZE A: Double Art Studio rewards (1 use). Instead of 16 choice cards, you can claim 32, etc.
☆ GRAND PRIZE B: +10 new release cards (5 uses). Turn the coupon in to the Art Shop to get 10 new random release cards. Good for five uses; can be stacked.

I feel like this is kind of icky bc bugs but did you know that the Last of Us video games fictional fungus was actually based off of a real life fungus that infects bugs and essentially mummifies them, but that if specially taken by people it's supposed to help protect the brain from conditions like Alzheimer's and Dementia?? I thought that was really interesting!

		Brown Task: In Progress Talk about something science related you're interested in; any area is fine. i struggle a lot with the arts and humanities so i really like science, and i have two science degrees! psychology and speech-language pathology. i mostly stuck to the neuro side of psych, because i found it more concrete and easy compared to like, social psych or cognition beyond like, what you need to know for clinical settings (pretty much when psych starts to get close to philosophy my brain checks out). i had to learn a lot of neuro for slp too, as well as other physiological processes like respiration and deglutition, and even stuff like the physics of sound, brain development, audiology, and the etiology of different medical conditions. ALSO I LOVE BUGS SO MUCH!! i wish i could get into entomology buuuut i decided to pursue a field that was more stable (not that i don't like slp, it's actually really personal to me because i needed slp services growing up so i wanna give back and help others). but insects are a bit of a special interest of mine.

They had to pack it in last month due to fuel leaks and then Hurricane Ian, so now it's scheduled to be rolled back out on November 4th and lift-off on November 14th! It's crazy exciting. BROWN: I enjoy electrical engineering, but it really is a pain when you get solder burns on your fingers. I'm always tempted to spell it as sauter. Physics is really cool too, but my ability to enjoy it has been pretty ruined by the relentless problem sets that defined my adolescence. Chemistry is probably my favorite in the end. Memorizing the tables of what chemicals produced a solid substance, it really made me felt like I was learning something about substances.

i recently graduated with my computer science major, and as of recently i've just been picking up any sort of web related projects i can code as a hobby, as i love working with html, css, and javascript. before that, i worked with discord.js to build a few bots for an mmo revival, which was the game that started my interest in cs when i played in 2012.
in school i worked with genetic algorithms that had utilized things like the darwin theory which had grabbed my interest a bit, but i wasn't able to dive too deep into it.

When I was in school, I liked a couple of the science classes. But...my fave was the botany and zoology classes. I had a teacher who loved to teach us about bugs and to appreciate the odd and interesting and things people perceive as gross. My class had pet hissing cockroaches and we would all want to have these guys hanging out with us during class. We got to have the bugs sitting with us at our desk and chilling. It was always fun for me. When I was this age I also got to go pet a giant ball python and immediately loved it. I've always been a bit of a wimp, so it was neat that I took to a couple of things that people normally wouldn't like to have around. I wanted to be a vet when I was really young, even.

I've always loved bugs since I was a kid and I own a few field guides and encyclopedias about insects and arachnids. I like taking pictures of them too! Here's a few I've taken. 		Brown Task: Completed Talk about something science related you're interested in. The last science-y thing I learned is that there's going to be a probe sent to study Europa in a couple years (one of Jupiter's moons) and that Europa has an absolutely bonkers deep liquid ocean under the surface (hypothesized) which could be up to 60 miles deep compared to Earth's ocean which is only 7 miles at its deepest. If there was life in that ocean it would probably be massive. Imagine if we could find life in space in like 3 years. I am desperate for a huge space whale. Probably unlikely but one can dream!!

I occasionally work with folks that do R&D with facial performance capture for game engines! A fun part is when we get the baseline data for calibrating. It involves having the performer do specific sets of expressions to register the different extremes they can make, and then capturing all the possible mouth shapes. The latter usually involves completely nonsensical sentences, delivered differently each time (sad, angry, happy, etc.), so it usually serves as an amusing warmup before the main recording session.

Talk about something science related you're interested in; any area is fine. a little while ago I started watching David Attenborough's Kingdom of Plants and I was especially interested in the water worlds episode... plants are pretty hardcore, it's epic how they adapt to living in different environments. Marimos are so cute... The water currents make them rub up against each other to keep clean, which is important bc if there's sediment on their surfaces they won't be able to photosynthesise.
